MEET ALISHA
Empathetic approach to psychiatric care in Colorado
Alisha was drawn to her work in mental health when she saw the lack of resources and providers available for vulnerable populations, especially women in their reproductive years, perinatal, or postpartum stages of their life.
Her love of helping people and learning has brought her to work with patients of all genders and ages, offering holistic, collaborative care that integrates medication, therapy, and shared decision-making.
Alisha’s goal when working with any patient is to create a space where people feel deeply heard, safe, and genuinely seen.

Partnering with Alisha
Patients often describe Alisha as an empathetic active listener who is culturally curious, open-minded, and gently but firmly focused on growth.
In sessions, she emphasizes collaborative care over directive care, inviting patients to share their goals and preferences and pacing treatment to match what feels manageable and sustainable. She prioritizes clear communication around medication, treatment options, and safety to ensure her patients understand their choices and feel empowered in the decision-making process.
Alisha grounds her work in evidence-informed guidance, staying current with research while remaining flexible and creative in tailoring care. Safety is always central to her visits, and she is comfortable setting and maintaining clear boundaries that protect both patients and providers. Patients can expect a balance of compassion, structure, and support as they navigate their mental health journey.

More about your mental health professional

Professional background
Alisha brings more than 20 years of medical experience to her work as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.
She began her career in outpatient medicine as a medical receptionist, then as an emergency department secretary while completing nursing school. As a bedside nurse, she worked primarily with surgical patients, including individuals undergoing oncology treatment and gastric bypass surgery, where she saw firsthand how mental health shapes recovery and long-term outcomes.
Alisha’s work has reinforced her belief in evidence-informed, whole-person care that includes the biological, psychological, social, and cultural dimensions of each patient’s life.
Educational background
Licensed to practice in Colorado, Alisha earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Spring Arbor University, where she trained to provide holistic mental health care across the lifespan.
Her advanced education and board certification as a PMHNP-BC equip her to assess mental health concerns, diagnose conditions, prescribe and manage medications, and partner with patients to build individualized treatment plans that align with their goals and values.
Outside of the office
When not providing psychiatric care to Colorado patients
Outside of her sessions with patients, Alisha’s life is full and family-centered, with days spent juggling time with her husband, two children, two English bulldogs, and a geriatric cat.
Alisha stays busy with her hobbies, with a love for art, reading across genres, going to movies and the theater, spending time outdoors, and traveling.
She recently added dance classes and a book club into the mix—all of which keep her curious, creative, and attuned to the diverse stories people carry.
Alisha cares deeply about perinatal and paternal mental health, and volunteers her time with a free lactation support group at Mountain Ridge Medical Center and Project C.U.R.E. and is currently pursuing additional certification for perinatal mental health.
