Brenda Donovan’s path to mental healthcare was shaped by both professional experience and personal insight. As a family nurse practitioner, she worked closely with chronically ill patients who also faced anxiety and depression.
Those experiences deepened her understanding of the connection between physical and mental well-being. She’s also witnessed firsthand how mental health conditions affect families, reinforcing her commitment to advocacy, education, and compassionate care.
Brenda earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) degrees from the University of Arizona, followed by her Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification from Wilkes University.
Blending her nursing expertise with a deep commitment to patient care, Brenda takes a whole-person approach to medication management and mental health treatment.
As a dedicated advocate for mental health awareness, she works to reduce stigma and provide evidence-based interventions that foster resilience and lasting change.
She focuses on creating personalized care plans that empower patients to take an active role in their recovery.
Brenda knows that trust is at the heart of mental health treatment. She creates a warm, welcoming space where you can feel safe opening up about your experiences — without fear of judgment. By taking the time to truly listen, she ensures you feel seen, heard, and supported at every step.
Her approach is all about collaboration, working alongside you (and your loved ones, if helpful) to build a treatment plan that aligns with your goals, values, and needs.
With open communication and shared decision-making, Brenda helps you feel empowered and in control of your care.
Outside of work, Brenda enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, being silly with her grandchildren, and cuddling her two dogs, who are both the size of small humans.
As a mom to two sons and grandmother to two young boys, she deeply cares about fighting the mental health stigma men can feel they face by encouraging them to take care of their mental well-being.
She believes that just like learning to cook (which she’s enjoying, but still working on mastering), mental health is something we can all strengthen over time — with patience, practice, and the right guidance.
She’s also an enthusiastic car-concert performer — because nothing beats belting out your favorite songs with the windows down!
Brenda’s approach is guided by three core actions: empower, educate, and embrace.
She believes that mental health treatment should be a collaborative act, where patients feel ready and able to take control of their well-being. She takes the time to educate with compassion, ensuring that you understand your treatment options and feel confident in your care. Above all, she embraces each patient as a unique individual, recognizing that no two mental health experiences are the same.
Whether you’re navigating a new diagnosis or working toward long-term stability, Brenda is here to walk alongside you, providing guidance and encouragement along the way.
