Shane Samuel’s path to psychiatry was fueled by a passion for helping people reclaim their well-being — one conversation at a time.
Drawn to the opportunity to build meaningful connections with patients, Shane values the time he gets to spend genuinely listening, understanding each individual’s unique challenges, and working together to create a personalized treatment plan that supports their goals.
Shane earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Arizona State University. After graduating, his passion for improving access to quality mental healthcare quickly extended beyond the clinic. His professional background also includes involvement in community health initiatives, particularly those focused on helping people in rural areas.
As an Arizona and Colorado-licensed psychiatric nurse practitioner, Shane’s philosophy is rooted in collaboration, trust, and empowerment. He creates a safe, nonjudgmental space where patients feel heard, respected, and supported.
His approach integrates traditional psychiatric care with lifestyle-based interventions — because mental well-being isn’t just about medication; it’s about the whole person.
Whether incorporating nutritional guidance, mindfulness techniques, or exercise, Shane is committed to finding the right balance for each patient.
Specializing in complex conditions like treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, and bipolar disorder, Shane tailors his approach to fit the person, not just the diagnosis.
This psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner’s approach is centered on ensuring that every patient feels heard, understood, and empowered to actively participate in their care. Providing well-rounded, evidence-based plans, Shane takes the time to explain treatment options.
Every time he sees a patient smile as they begin to feel a sense of relief and control over their mental health, he’s reminded why this work matters.
When he’s not helping patients improve their mental well-being, Shane enjoys hiking, exploring new coffee shops and bakeries, and spending time with his family and cats.
A longtime Star Wars and Lord of the Rings fan, he’ll never say no to a good discussion about these epic sagas.
He’s also passionate about mental health advocacy, women’s health, and animal welfare, with a dream of one day owning a farm where he can bring his love of nature and animals together.
His guiding mantra? “Go low and slow.” He knows that real progress happens at a pace that works for each patient — steady, thoughtful, and always with their best interests in mind.
Shane believes in meeting patients where they are and moving forward together. That’s why he prioritizes open conversations, clear explanations, and treatment plans that adapt to each individual’s needs and goals.
His goal is simple: to provide integrated, evidence-based psychiatric care that helps patients build momentum, regain balance, and feel better.
